The ThruWay or Thru-Way The http://www.thruway.ny.gov/index.shtml has a very informative web site. Mentioned here as the weather advisory and travel cams can be very helpful. No information relative to the Troopers who patrol the "big road" is found. Officially as the Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway, however there is no mentioned of his name. 1950's post cards of sections of the big road are at the bottom of this page. The 1954 Opening Detail is below, button indicated, as a pdf.
