There are many areas where a Trooper can volunteer to participate in activities, full or part time, providing specific qualifications for that specialty are met. Many require extensive training and extreme physical abilities. The assignments listed were common thru the 1960's, and still are a part of State Police operations. Many additional specialty assignments have evolved as technology and law enforcement needs change.
